Data Spike is a first-person, puzzle platformer where the player is tasked to explore the internet and uncover information for a mysterious client.
Data Spike was designed and built around a central mechanic unofficially named "Jump-Casting". It involves the player selecting a surface by looking with the mouse and clicking. The player is then "warped" to the point on the surface they clicked, and their perspective is re-orientated so that the selected surface becomes "down" in their perspective. The player can maintain this position, for a limited time, by holding the "Shift" key. While in this state the player can walk, jump and fall, relative to their new orientation.
